We are Baptists keeping, honoring and celebrating the 7th day of the week, Saturday (Hebrew “Sabbath”)
Where do they originate from?
- In the middle of the 17th century, some Baptists in England split from their Sunday-keeping brethren intending to sanctify the Sabbath (Saturday) from then on
- In 1650 the first Seventh Day Baptist church emerged in London, still existing today
- In 1671, the first STB congregation was founded independently in Newport, Rhode Island, USA
- From 1932 onwards the first STB congregations in Germany were founded by Ludwig Richard Conradi (1856-1939)
- In 1939 they reached their peak with 533 members in 28 congregations or groups
- Unfortunately, after the end of the war, their numbers steadily decreased due to a lack of leadership and missionary interest
- kurzzeitig ausgestorben, gibt es heute wieder einige Siebenten Tags Baptisten in Deutschland (allerdings noch keine Gemeinden)
